Global Institute (i.K.A.R.E.) is a community-based non-profit family services agency that provides youth and family intervention services to the Broward and Miami-Dade County communities. i.K.A.R.E. provides safe housing, educational, emotional, fiscal support for foster youth, homeless young adults, young adults and their families. i.K.A.R.E. seeks to empower its young people with the skills to maintain healthy relationships by emphasizing safety, structure, self-worth, independence and competence.
The i.K.A.R.E. Life Skills and Transitional Program is designed to address the needs of youth and young adults with a full range of supportive services to enable youth and young adults to work towards their goals.
We provide services to:
Youth ages 6-17
Young adults ages 18-24
i.K.A.R.E.’s educational component is provided in, but not limited to, the following areas, Job Readiness, Social Skills,Financial Planning, Educational Planning, Independent Living Skills, Savings Program, Fund Deposit, Case Management, Anger Management, Transportation Assistance, Grocery Assistance, Life Skills Training, AIDS and STD prevention, Safe Sex education, Substance Abuse Prevention, Teen Pregnancy Prevention and Diet and Obesity.
All referrals require an in-depth, face-to-to face assessment before a decision can be made regarding admission to the program. Upon completion of the assessment, the client will be given an initial application form and a Criminal Background Check (CBC) information disclosure form. After processing the CBC and the application, the Program Director will determine whether or not the applicant is appropriate for admission, the Program Coordinator will contact the applicant, and a formal intake will be scheduled.
